AMEX Platinum Card Concierge: Calling All Foodies

AMEX Platinum Card Concierge might be one of the most overlooked services offered to AMEX Platinum users. As someone with a passion for food and dining out, I try to pay visits to both local and fine-dining restaurants when I travel. On a recent visit to NYC, I used AMEX Platinum Card Concierge to snag a table at COTE – 1 Michelin star (as of 2019) restaurant specializing in high end Korean BBQ. They even noted in the reservation that it was my birthday, and I got a free ice cream. Although the dessert was not particularly impressive, a small touch like that goes a long way.

Dinner at Cote was great: all possible because of the AMEX Platinum Card Concierge service.

The second occasion where the concierge service really shined was when I traveled to Tokyo, Japan. Since I do not speak Japanese, making reservations at local, highly reviewed restaurants were near impossible. In Japan, there are vendors like Pocket Concierge or Tableall that make reservations for you, but they come at a very high cost, often more expensive than the meal itself. So I called the concierge desk, and... yay! AMEX saved me again. I was able to make several reservations, and they sent prompt confirmation emails to me so I could keep track of them. My favorite was Katsuzen – 1 Michelin star (as of 2019) restaurant specializing in Tonkatsu.

My experience with AMEX Platinum Card Concierge was seamless and pleasant, and I will continue to use the service for future domestic and international dining experiences.
